Cannabis, ranging from marijuana and hash to opium and hemp, should be legalized for medicinal and recreational purposes. Colorado has been the first state to legalize marijuana for recreational use, several states have already permitted it for medicinal purposes, and some are pending consideration (such as NY) for medicinal purposes. It is legal abroad, for example in Amsterdam. The cannabis plant has many benefits---e.g. religiously, socially, medically, and culturally.
We, the undersigned, propose that legislators legalize selected cannabis drugs (especially marijuana) for these purposes. If the federal or state governments want to regulate and tax it, so be it. Would it not only bring in new revenue into the government's coffers and boost the economy, but also reduce crime-rates.
