Cannabis has its roots in American history. It was the primary crop on George Washington's Mount Vernon. Everybody living in Jamestown was required to grow it. However, it was illegalized in 1937 based on untrue propaganda. For example, this poster (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2d/Killerdrug.jpg) claims that marijuana is harmful and affects mental sanity, when, in fact, innumerable scientific studies have proved otherwise. Scientific studies have even found that it is safer to use than alcohol or any other narcotic, even though the former is legal in the US. I urge President Obama to legalize, tax and federally regulate marijuana and hemp.
