Cockfighting is a legitimate sport similar to those of the Gladiator arenas in Europe long ago. This acts as a good replacement for the lack of of this sport and is a southern-american tradition in the Latino community. As a small child I enjoyed waking up with my padre to go to the local cock-fighting arena. The aroma of freshly washed, battle-ready cocks fills the air, and the tension of the morning and the fights to come is obvious on the faces of all the smiling children and their parents. As an immigrant of Spain, the fact that a part of my vibrant culture, cockfighting, is illegal and that you assumed my gender disgusts me. I bet you thought I was a man. False.
