Legalize the cultivation of industrial hemp in the United States, and consider it a Schedule V controlled substance.

Overturn the ban of industrial hemp that occurred in 1957, allowing industrial hemp to be farmed for it's multiple uses and reducing our dependency on imports. As marijuana is still illegal, it should retain being a controlled substance and the plants should be subject to testing to ensure that it is not being grown for illegal purposes.
There are multiple uses for hemp that are being used around the nation and the imports of hemp are increasing with the uses, as food, clothing, lamp oil, building materials, and furniture.
This will pave the way for american businesses to profit off of the more environmentally friendly product that is being added to many industrial products, as it takes up half as much land than cotton for the same crop per ton.
