Hedgehogs, as well as sugar gliders and ferrets, have been been prohibited in the state of California due to Section 671, Title 14 of the California Code of Regulations (CCR) for the following reasons: (1) numbers are threatened or endangered in the wild; (2) pose a threat to native fish and wildlife. These can be revoked for domestic ownership of hedgehogs in the homes of families all over California.
