Legalize gay marriage

Created by C.B. on March 03, 2013

By denying same sex couples the right to marry, I strongly believe that the government has violated their constitutional rights, discriminated on the basis of gender and sexual orientation and allowed religious organizations the opportunity to abuse their power and have enacted an impartial law. It violates the Due Process Clause, which prohibits state and local governments from depriving persons of life, liberty, or property without certain steps being taken to ensure fairness. It is unethical to allow only opposite-sex couples the right to marry. We do not prohibit others to marry based on religion or race, so how can it be justified to deny someone marriage based on sexual orientation?
