This definition is outdated in accordance with same sex couples becoming prevalent in today's society. Marrige is not just a religious concept. In the eyes of the law it can determine social security benefits as well as property rights upon the death of the spouse. Seperation of church and state, alongside the 14th ammendment, should provide the grounds for legalization of gay marriage. We should not deny our U.S citizens this right.
