Hemp is an increasingly useful agricultural crop used in a wide variety of industries, such as clothing, biofuels and food. It makes no sense to criminalize the production of hemp while allowing its import. The President should direct the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to immediately reverse its strong resistance to hemp production and petition Congress to remove hemp from the Controlled Substances Act.
