In the last half decade there has been an increasing boom in craft beer, primarily due to the continued support and advent of home brewing. While this supports the concept of creating beer, meads and wines, it does not support the creation of or distillation of mashes in to alcoholic spirits for either human consumption or for biofuels such as ethanol.
Despite popular belief, alcoholic spirits of today, when crafted by an educated person, do not contain dangerous chemicals such as methanol, nor can cause a person to go blind. The internet is chocked full of professional websites that support home distillation of spirits and the education required.
It is requested that the home distillation of alcoholic spirits be reconsidered. This is a hobby no more dangerous than home brewing.
