Legalize marijuana and regulate it similarly to alcohol and cigarettes.

Marijuana is illegal in all fifty states and while many are pushing for legalization or reform in regulation, this is not a big enough step. Marijuana does not have any health risks, such as lung cancer or liver disease like cigarettes and alcohol does. How does a substance with no known health risks be illegal while two other substances that have many health risks connected to them are on the open market? Legalization of marijuana would not only bring down drug trafficking in the US, but it would also limit substance abuse and the strength of the drug. The legalization of marijuana could potentially bring in millions of dollars in taxes to federal, state, and local governments, money that could be used to fund schools, research and hundreds of other civil services.
