Legalize marijuana for both medical and recreational use.

Created by T.G. on October 02, 2014

In 1970 Congress passed the Control Substances Act, which was signed off by Richard Nixon, classifying marijuana as a schedule I drug. Other drugs under the same classification include heroin, ecstasy, and LSD among others. Under this act Schedule I drugs are considered to have high potential for abuse, no accepted medical use in the US, and generally unsafe for use by the public. Not only have multiple studies dis-proven most misconceptions that led to this rash decision in 1970,but it is ridiculous that marijuana is considered more dangerous then hardcore drugs such as cocaine and methamphetamine. Not only would the legalization of marijuana provide a means of economic regulation, it has also proven to aid people with numerous health problems, and is a safe alternative to chemotherapy.
