Colorado and Washington state have lead the way by passing legalization bills. However just days ago, Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, Gil Kerlikowske said that the Justice Department will continue to use their "limited resources" to go after distributors and large-scale growers in those states.
Doing so not only undermines the individual states but takes away from one of the bigger benefits of the legislation - economic growth.
This will force users in those states to continue to buy marijuana that may come from illegal operations, possibly profiting criminal enterprises outside of the country instead of the local and state governments.
It's time for real reform. It's time for legalization!
