Legalize marijuana at a federal level for recreational use

Created by I.M. on February 20, 2014

Marijuana, a drug commonly looked down upon, is much less harmful than current recreational drugs such as tobacco and is also less harmful than alcohol. If marijuana was accepted as a recreational drug on a federal level, it could be taxed at a fairly high rate, allowing for immense income for the government. Dispensaries would also create jobs for countless people without them, and marijuana is also known to have medicinal properties, unlike tobacco or alcohol, which could help many people by discontinuing their suffering. If tobacco and alcohol are both substances that are considered safe enough to be used by the public for recreation, then there is no reason for marijuana to not be on the list for recreation as well.
