The U.S. is one of 5 countries in the entire world that has a drinking age of 21. All others are lower or non-existent. The taboo created especially around alcohol use is entirely counter-productive. Instead we should teach kids ( I myself am only 17 and I believe this entirely after researching the subject for a debate) to drink responsibly from an early age so that drunk driving and alcohol related deaths due to binge drinking will exponentially decrease. Why you ask?One word. Europe. Europeans drink responsibly. Another word. Portugal. Portugal has decriminalized all drugs, and instead of spending ungodly amounts of money on the ever-failing War on Drugs, they have invested in creating the best rehabilitation centers in the entire world, and their drug usage has dropped tremendously.
