Marijuana should be legalized and heavily taxed (if not more) in the same manner that tobacco is. It is safer than alcohol and tobacco (though should still have similar laws to it such as a legal purchasing age), and has been used by over 40% of the U.S. population. The money brought in can help with the debt this country faces.
Marijuana related crime would hopefully be eliminated.
Money spent on law enforcement to enforce marijuana related crimes will be eliminated and money spent to house inmates on marijuana related crimes should cease to exist.
Is it not a win-win if the country is spending less and making more? I am not a marijuana smoker, but don't you think it's about time to legalize it?
