Medical marijuana is a national topic, yet state governments still decide on these issues. Marijuana has been illegal since 1937 and this was decided without medical science or sufficient research about the drug. During the early 1900s marijuana was viewed as a dangerous and addicting drug, which today we know is false. However, the Federal government still views marijuana as a schedule 1 drug which means it has a high potential for abuse and no medicinal benefits. The Federal Government views cocaine as a safer drug than marijuana. The laws regarding marijuana have stayed the same for years and it is time for a change. The results of these changes would include; fewer people in jail, the creation of jobs, and an increase in tax revenue. The U.S will benefit from Medical Marijuana.
