It is not a secret that the majority of American citizens are in favor of the legalization of marijuana, and some states (Colorado and Washington) have legalized the use of recreational use of Marijuana, despite the the fact that Federal Laws still prohibit the possession and distribution of Marijuana. The Legalization of Marijuana would potentially solve several of the problems relating to marijuana among the American People and taxes on marijuana would increase federal income. Other effects may include the weakening of drug cartels and a decrease in crime and incarceration costs with crimes related to marijuana. The Federal government should should treat Colorado as an experiment and act based on the states success or failure regarding crime and income based on Marijuana sales.
