legalize non-taxed distillation of alcohol for personal consumption

Created by K.B. on January 11, 2014

Alcohol distillation for beverage use has been fundamentally tied to the American way of life since the founding of our country, with even or first President George Washington being a profound producer of rye whiskey. Current law prohibits distillation without the burdensome acquisition of a Federal permit that only makes sense for bulk quantity producers to obtain.

As with production of homebrew beer, many Americans are interested in learning how to properly distill alcohol for beverage use for their own enjoyment as a craft. These same Americans would like to pursue this endeavor completely through legal channels.

A provision for home distillation of Alcohol should be introduced to allow these types of individuals to distill up to a specific legal quantity for personal consumption.
