legalize the owning and importation of Domestic Ferrets in the state of California.

Ferret organizations have promoted legalization of ferrets as pets in the states that had prohibited such ownership. Eight states legalized ferrets as pets since then:Alaska in 1985, Pennsylvania in 1987, Vermont in 1989, Georgia in 1991, New Hampshire and Utah in 1993, Michigan in 1994, and Massachusetts in 1996.California said no. The ownership and importation of ferrets is illegal in the State of California. We, not only owner of ferrets but also those who believe it is not right to tell people their family members are illegal, have created this petition to finally bring down the State law that has been legal since 1933. It is not right for anyone to be considered a criminal or to be told whether they can have their pets be part of their family based on their breed.Please help
