Polygamy, by definition, is a marriage with multiple partners that are aware of each other. Some people decided to outlaw polygamy because they thought that the partners didn't know about each other. The government was made to be free of religion. This has been ignored though when it was made illegal because people decided to focus on their religion while making the law. People say that it is morally wrong but isn't just as morally wrong to force 3 or more people who love each other apart just because you don't like their ways?
