Legalize Prostitution

Created by E.E. on October 17, 2012

By recognizing prostitution as a legitimate business industry, the government would collect tax revenue from legal brothels and independent sex workers. Prostitutes would receive standardized wages, health insurance, sick/pregnancy leave, as well as paid vacation. Following the success of legalized prostitution in several European countries, specially zoned districts would be set up away from schools, homes, and churches, providing licensed prostitutes with an alternative workplace. Additionally, prostitutes would no longer have to rely on 'pimps' who are often abusive and manipulative. Health and safety standards would be imposed, holding sex workers to the same hygenic standards as doctors. The rate of rape and sex trafficking would decrease dramatically, as well as the prevalence of STIs
