Too many lives have been ruined due to a plant. There are 65 people serving life sentences because of Marijuana possession. As of right now, Marijuana is a schedule-I drug. The DEA believes it can create severe psychological problems, and that there is no need for the drug. Yet, medically, marijuana has been proven to treat pain and there hasn't been a single death recorded due to an "overdose by cannabis". From the statistics, Advil is more dangerous than cannabis. How come cigarettes and alcohol are legal, and yet 480,000 each year die from cigarettes? If there is a belief that people can act responsibly with cigarettes or alcohol, and people can't act responsibly with Marijuana, then there is seriously something wrong with our drug laws. Taxation would grow the economy.. by a LOT!
