Mass shootings, while tragic, account for a statistically insignificant portion of violent crime. A much larger portion can be attributed to gang culture. Gang violence is fueled by one thing and one thing only: The trafficking and distribution of illegal drugs. Instead of attempting to pass ineffective gun control legislation aimed at stopping mass shootings, we ask the the Obama administration immediately legalizes the recreation use of drugs in order to eliminate the gang culture wrecking America's cities.
Not only would this policy drastically reduce violent crime and save billions spent on enforcement, it would most likely also result in a overall reduction in drug use (similar to the results seen when Portugal adopted the same policy).
