The state of Louisiana incarcerates more people than anywhere else in the world, often to keep privately owned prisons running. Legalization of marijuana, or decriminalization at the very least, would help to lower the high incarceration rate and speak against the injustice of privately owned prisons so that only those who truly deserve to be in prison for a serious crime may be condemned. Marijuana legalization would help to stimulate the economy as well. Cannabis can be used to make many products for everyday use and is also a very effective pain reliever. Alcohol has caused countless deaths; marijuana has not, yet it is looked down upon and viewed as a much more serious substance...think about this.
