The United States enacted the Unlawful Internet Gambling and Enforcement Act, which was appended to the 2006 Port Security Improvement Act, to "prohibit gambling businesses from knowingly accepting payments in connection with the participation of another person in a bet or wager that involves the use of the Internet and that is unlawful under any federal or state law." The game of poker, as known by its millions of players in this country, is a game of skill and not strictly of chance, and therefore should not be "lumped in" with sports betting and various other forms of gambling. The regulation, legislation, and taxation of online poker in the US would generate millions for our economy and create thousands of jobs - and lift a stigma that has been hanging over US players for far too long.
