American citizens have the right to freedom of speech, religion, press, petition, etc. Why is loving the same sex against the law in over half of this country, the "land of the free"? Only 16 states and the District of Columbia approve of homo-/bi-/pansexual couples becoming legally wed.
Most people don't see a problem with homosexual people getting married, but others find problems with them due to their beliefs. No disrespect to anyone, but why is it any of your business of what someone does behind their closed doors in their homes? How do their sexual acts with his/her same-sex partner affect you personally in your everyday life? Without using religious claims/your opinion to "back you up", provide an answer to those questions.
