As of now wagering on sports can only be done legally in Nevada and Delaware. One could choose to jump through all the loop-holes and wager online, but that can lure identity thieves to you.
I would like to see sportsbooks open in regulated gaming establishments for 3 reasons.
The first reason legalizing sportsbooks should be tax revenue. I can speak for the state of Illinois where I reside and say that "we" are strapped for cash, and new revenue is hard to come by.
Secondly, sportsbooks should be legal because they would create secure, high quality, long lasting, salary jobs.
Thirdly, Nevada and Delaware have an unfair advantage in a what is supposed to be a free market. Allowing sportsbooks to operate equally across the US would give all citizens equal access to gaming entertainment.
