Mr. President, and members of the senate, respectfully,
We, the people of America, have, for years, called upon you, our government, to legalize, tax, and regulate marijuana for recreational use, similar to how alcohol is regulated and taxed, but somehow it never comes to pass.
Marijuana has been proven numerous time to be safer and less addictive than (legal) alcohol. The report I have posted at the bottom of this petition also shows that the tax income from legal marijuana would greatly exceed the income from the current prohibition.
Millions of people are arrested every year for marijuana-related charges, costing taxpayers billions of dollars to hold these people in prison. It is time to end the prohibition of marijuana once and for all.
