Any legal documents in the United States will only recognize the traditional "male" & "female" gender markers on all legal documents like birth certificates, state ID, and so on, which means leaving anyone who does not technically fit into one of those two gender classifications leaving them with no option, but to be legally identified as male or female. Many countries like Australia and New Zealand both allow an X in place of an M or an F on passports for this purpose and the UK recognizes 'Mx' (pronounced as Mix or sometimes Mux) as a gender-neutral title. Many countries are already grasping the importance of this problem.
This petition asks the Obama Administration to legally recognize all genders outside of the male & female binary (such as agender, pangender, androgyny, & so on)
