Legally require all health insurance companies to include infertility treatment as part of their coverage.

Created by N.G. on November 14, 2012

Only 15 states in the US have laws that require health insurance companies to pay part of or all of the expenses related in infertility treatment. Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) consists of numerous doctor visits, ultrasounds, blood work, medications and procedures which many people have to pay for out of pocket despite having health insurance coverage. Infertility affects approximately 1 out of 9 couples in the US and the average cost of In-Vitro Fertilization can cost upwards of $10,000 (and this does not guarantee that the couple will end up with a viable pregnancy). In this day in age, in this country, people should not be forced to take out loans against their home, etc to build the families they so desperately want.
