Legislate in favor of Open Source, not 'Proprietary' software systems, for all US electronic voting machines

Created by D.S. on November 08, 2012

Anecdotal, negative evidence has impacted our citizens' ability to share confidence in the election system, when votes are counted on electronic voting machines.
The companies who supply said machines have pre-installed their own 'proprietary' software, and often disallow 'examinations' of source code, relying on 'intellectual property law' to restrict such access.
Americans deserve a high feeling of confidence when voting; such can be augmented through a standardized Open-Source software for elections, to be developed & shared with all manufacturers of Voting-tabulation machines.
Support this petition if you believe your vote is more important than companies being able to deny examination of how its machines will register, safeguard and tally ALL votes, with built-in audit capabilities.
