legislate that if teachers are to have merit pay, all government employees, federal and local, also must have merit pay.

This petition is asking that teachers are not singled out for merit based pay that comes from student test scores or graduation rates. If, however, people feel teachers should have their pay based on their success in the classroom, all government officials, then, should also receive pay based on their success at their jobs. This would include federal and local government positions. It would mean that all members of the Executive and Legislative branches of government including the President and his Cabinet, would receive pay based on their success rating. Anyone receiving their salary from taxpayers would be subject to this so that one profession does not get singled out for having their salary based on merit.
