Legislation requiring purchasers of firearms and ammunition to obtain liability insurance is needed.

It is time to stop the violence in our homes and communities. Instead of arguing about "gun control" we need legislation which requires purchasers of firearms and ammunition to obtain and maintain liability insurance. The insurance companies would be required to compensate families and victims of gun violence. The insurance companies would be required to do mental health screening of all purchasers of their insurance. Gun owner's and users of ammunition would be required to purchase the insurance in order to legally make purchases of these items. Sellers of firearms would be required to obtain proof of insurance from all purchasers. Vehicle owners and operators are required to provide such insurance, so gun owners should be treated no differently.
