On newer Diesel powered vehicles 2007 and newer have strict emissions controls that are suppose to make the vehicle burn cleaner and more effiecient. However they Burn more fuel because of the DPF which is a piece of equipment that filters the exhaust preventing Particulate Matter, reason they burn more fuel is because of air flow restriction. First off the newer diesel motors don't need these because they burn way more clean than the older motors. On top of that when the DPF gets clogged it needs to go through Regeneration which raises EGT's and Injects extra fuel to burn it off which causes excessive blue smoke in the cycle. Bottom of the line is why make something worse than better? No DPF means increased MPG and burns cleaner because of modern day technology on the motor. Consider this
