Many college students are hardworking individuals who have to scrape by just to go to school. It is frowned upon to not further one's education but to live healthily while still maintaining satisfactory grades can be almost impossible.
The requirements for a college student to even qualify for SNAP include: being a full-time college student, must have a job that pays minimum wage, must work at least 20 hours a week, must have a place of residency, and must be taking are of a dependent household member under the age of six.
For a full-time college student who also works and provides for themselves, as well as maintaining good grades, is just not realistic to be able to meet these requirements.
