Lessen our dependence on foreign oil by requiring bottle manufacturers to decrease the amount of plastic used.

Created by M.B. on December 04, 2012

Plastic bottles for toiletries, food products, and home cleaning products are a wasteful way to use our limited oil resources and end up either in a landfill or will be recycled (note that plastic can not be infinitely recycled). I petition that the government regulate the amount of plastic used in producing plastic bottles.

Some companies are taking the "greener" route by reducing the amount of plastic used in their bottles. I believe the bottles to still be of good quality despite the smaller amount of plastic.

Considering the large amount of bottles consumed, decreasing the plastic used will be a step forward in our efforts to reduce our dependence on foreign oil as well as it will help reduce the amount of landfill waste.
