Let any citizen opt out of social security, agree never to use it, and get a full reimbursement of taxes paid to date.

Created by A.L. on April 02, 2013

The social security system was conceived as a mechanism to essentially force all citizens, by way of compulsory wage confiscation, to have some savings for dire circumstances. It was always a socialistic idea, but garnered great support, especially among the growing metropolitan (urban) classes of the time.

Since that time nearly eighty years ago, the SS/Medicare system has morphed into a unquestioned flat tax that costs taxpayers over 15% of what would otherwise be wages they could spend, either now or later.

This system is fine for those that desire to participate, but it should never have been compulsory in a liberal society. Please consider allowing unwilling participants to recuse themselves, abandon future claims, and receive a full refund of all taxes paid - the full 15.3%.
