There is a critical need to finally lift the senseless restrictions and budget cuts imposed on the CDC and allow it to research and study the causes and effects of gun violence in America society. It is currently prohibited by the 1996 Dickey Amendment, which is no longer supported by original sponsor House Member Jay Dickey (R, AK). Periodic attempts within congress have not been successful. It is time to shine a spotlight on this amendment and repeal it.
