Let Long Island become a State. With over 7 million people, our situation is significantly different from the rest of NY

Created by J.M. on November 13, 2012

Long Island has over 7 million people, but our representation in congress does not reflect that. The senators and the governor focus on NYC, and Upstate NY. Economically, the taxes from Long Island is distributed to all of the other NY areas while retaining only a portion for local purposes. Residents could live a much better life if the money went to local businesses, roads, community centers, and public service workers instead of being redistributed to NYC social services.
