Let military retirees retain their Tricare Prime benefits regardless of their proximity to military installations.

Created by J.L. on March 21, 2013

On October 1, 2013 military retirees who wish to keep their current primary care providers will be switched over to Tricare Standard increasing health care costs to families of military retirees. To stay on Tricare Prime, families will be forced to go to a military treatment facility (MTF) if they live within one-hundred miles of a MTF. Traveling to the a MTF for treatment will increases cost through lost time at work for travel and the cost of fuel putting undue stress on the families of retirees. MTF’s will be overwhelmed with active duty members and retirees negatively affecting the level of care for all. Some retirees may chose not to receive care for themselves or dependents because of the complications put on them which could endanger their health.
