Puerto Rico has been a U.S. territory since 1898 when we were acquired from Spain after the Spanish-American War. We have the same laws and rights as any american yet, we can't vote for president of the United States. I am aware that in the Constitution it says that only states can vote for the president but we can vote for in the primary elections. What is the point of being able to choose who moves on in the race when we don't have a say in who wins and who will eventually take charge not only to the U.S but to our island? I believe that if we are given the opportunity to vote in the presidential elections, this could be a big change in Puerto Rican history and one step closer to bettering the progress of our island.
