Drop Texas from our union and sign Puerto Rico in accordance with its November sixth referendum to become a state. We may suffer significant loss in terms of land mass and population but quantity should never be traded for quality and Texas has very little quality in both respects, while Puerto Rico is an island oasis with good people. In order to preserve our interests in oil production we can retain a 50 mile wide stretch of land running along the coast from Louisiana to the Mexican border. Other positive ramifications might be that we won't have to change our beloved stars and stripes, it may be easier to control the Mexican border since no neighbouring state wants Texans coming into there's anyway and we won't have to listen to them tell us how great they are.
