The death rates from cancer today are the same as they were in 1950. The Cancer Genome Atlas Project was started in 2005 to provide a definitive exploration into the genetic causes of cancer. The data being collected from the project is as alarming as it is enlightening. There may very well be no genetic cause of cancer. Many leading researchers now believe that cancer may be a metabolic disease masquerading as a genetic one. Funding for study is needed. Such funding is typically provided by various pharmaceutical corporations, however since the promising cures on the horizon cannot be patented and sold, they have no financial incentive to provide such funding. We need the government's help to pursue this promising line of inquiry, and soon. Let's cure cancer before 2023.
