On behalf of the Forgotten Brothers organization:
Afghani and Iraqi language interpreters were employed by the United States government. After troops were pulled out of Afghanistan these translators were left behind and forgotten about. The Taliban knows who these individuals are and are out to kill them. The United States has legislation called the Special Immigrant Visa Program (SIV) but from 2009 - 2013 32 interpreters were issued SIVs. There are an approximate 8,000 interpreters that still need to be saved. These interpreters have saved American lives and are being left for dead in return.
The United States government must pass legislation making the process of issuing SIVs much easier. The US must also see the importance of this issue and allocate more resources to the program.
