Licensed Massage Therapists as care providers under Affordable Health Care.

Created by T.L. on January 12, 2014

Affordable Health Care (ACA) needs further reform to include monthly massage therapy (from a licensed provider) as a covered expense.

In 2012, The NYTimes reported studies stating "that pain can be reduced by massage,... and that massage can suppress inflammation and actually enhance cell recovery." Further reports show that over time, massage can reduce pain better that ibuprofen.

As a way to reduce stress related illnesses, many people use massage as preventive heath care, and more would if it were affordable. ACA support for monthly massage would decrease the number of pain related days off from work and make us a less stressed society.

Obama Administration, please consider covering monthly massage under the ACA!
