Lee Brooker, a 75-year-old disabled veteran, is sentenced to die in prison due to an Alabama mandatory sentence involving marijuana (http://takingnote.blogs.nytimes.com/2016/04/19/the-supreme-court-passes-...). He was charged for growing 2.8lbs (included are the non-usable parts of the plant) and due to mandatory sentencing, he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. No violent crime or intent to sell was committed. It would be morally unjust to allow for a life sentence due to a crime that would not even be criminal in 24 other states.
I would request that POTUS explain the moral/legal justification, why the Supreme Court would refuse such a case, and/or petition for pardon from the Alabama Governors Office.
