For the last 40 years, the United States has limited oil related exports. This has left the European Union and Ukraine highly dependent on Russian oil, which gives Russia great leverage in its international bullying schemes.
In light of recent aggression and total disregard for international law, it is important to show Russia that in order to compete on a global market, they must abide by the same rules as the rest of the world.
The Russian economy is highly reliant on their oil exports. We ask the Obama administration to temporarily lift the ban on exporting oil from the United States to pressure Russia into abiding by its pre-existing international agreements.
