The goal of Lift the Ban is to become an undeniable force in and around Major League Baseball so that the Commissioner’s Office feels compelled to take corrective action. This game belongs to the fans. If the fans demand it then MLB will reinstate Pete Rose. Lift the Ban is the voice for that demand. Nothing like this has yet been attempted and it will work.
Bud Selig is scheduled to retire his commission at the end of the 2014 season. The person who takes his place will probably not have close ties to baseball’s old-guard and will be more likely to lift the ban if the fans demonstrate that they want the ban to be lifted.
