We the people ask the federal government to Change an existing Administration policy:

Lift the FDA Ban on Blood Donation by Sexually Active Homosexual Men

Created by M.D. on June 14, 2016

The shooting tragedy at Pulse Night Club in Orlando, Fla. highlighted the cruel reality of bias in the American blood donation system. In December 2015, the FDA changed its 30 year indefinite ban on accepting donations from sexually active homosexual men, but still reject donations by men who have been sexually active with other men for 12 months prior to donation. As a result, hundreds of viable donors were turned away from donating blood to the 53 injured victims of the Pulse Night Club attack.
HIV blood-borne antibodies are testable within a few weeks of infection, which means men leading low-risk sex lives are still being turned away at a more regular rate than heterosexual people leading higher risk sex lives. We ask that the restrictions be changed to reflect science, not bias
