Lift Travel Restrictions on Syrian UN Amb. Jaafari; Reopen the Syrian Consulate; and Restore Full US-Syria Ties

Created by J.J. on August 11, 2016

The Syrian American Will Association (SAWA) repeatedly has asked the State Department to allow Dr. Jaafari, Syria’s UN ambassador, to visit Chicago to provide his perspective on the situation in Syria. This request has not been granted.

SAWA seeks a better relationship between Syria and the US. Both countries should work together to defeat illegal, anti-humanity groups and end the conflict that has been destroying Syria for over five years. This is in the national interest of the United States.

Allowing Dr. Jaafari to travel would contribute to essential understanding and help bring the conflict to an end. He should be allowed to travel to meet with Syrian Americans and the US public across the country. The US should also reopen the Syrian Consulate and restore full diplomatic ties.
